Obituary of Diatree Bhagwandin

Diatree Bhagwandin “Swaro” September 9th, 1947 – May 13th, 2021 In the afternoon of May 13th, 2021, Diatree “Swaro” Bhagwandin, passed away peacefully at the age of 73 years old, amongst her loved ones in Toronto, Ontario. Diatree was born on September 9th, 1947 in Misspheobee – Port Mourant, Guyana to Ramnaraine “Penge” and Lakhie Punwassi. She was the first of her siblings to immigrate to Canada in 1975, and by 1976 she was raising her 2 sons Radash and Raksesh Bhagwandin, in Alexandria, Ontario. Diatree, who was lovingly referred to as Swaro by most people who knew her, was a loving mother, mommom, sister, aunt and friend to many. She will be remembered for her kind and caring spirit and sense of humour. Diatree was preceded in death by her parents, Ramnaraine & Lakhie, her siblings, Dorothy & Ramdat, and her sons Rakesh & Radash. She is survived by her siblings, Basmatie, Gene & Anand. A private funeral service will be held on Wednesday May 19th, 2021, with a live stream of the service via Zoom. The Restrictions are as follows: • Maximum of 10 guests allowed on the property at one time. • No Line Ups Permitted • No Cycling of Guests • One Entire Group at one time • Attendances need to be scheduled by appointment only • Screening and logging of guests must be done by our staff • Intervals of 15 minutes between visitations mandatory for disinfection of facilities and continuous cleaning of surfaces throughout. • As always face masks and cleaning hands are mandatory as well as keeping social distancing of 6.5 feet. Please note that for religious services that we cannot accommodate any intervals and will require only a maximum group of 10 for those ceremonies. These rules are mandatory and Lotus Funeral and Cremation Centre Inc needs to follow these for the safety of your guests as well as the staff. Visitation and funeral services are attended BY INVITATION ONLY. Please contact the family if you wish to attend, NOT the funeral home. We can also provide families with zoom video options for them to invite friends and family that may not be able to attend in person due to these restrictions.
