In Loving Memory of Parathasarathi Mitra (1939 to 2021)
December 1 after complications from surgery, our father passed at
Toronto Western Hospital. He was intelligent, outspoken and
spirited which led him to break with convention and marry the girl
of his heart. My mother stood by him for 61 years until his last
breath.
They came to Canada in 1966 and first settled in Burlington and
then Toronto where they made many friends and maintained a
bond with the local Bengali communities. Many whom have
known them for decades celebrating marriages, anniversaries and
births.
He practiced as a Civil Engineering (P.Eng) in the private sector
and then for the Federal Government -Public Works for 30 years
until his retirement. He never slowed down, he returned to Kolkata
every year to support his father who became a Centenarian,
participated two times in the Canadian Senior Citizens Olympics
for Badminton and was an avid Contract Bridge Player. Our
parents together enjoyed gardening and cooking great meals,
both international and Bengali cuisines with Friends and Family.
Their open minded approach made them favorite dinner guests!
He is survived by his wife, Shyamali, son and daughter-in-law,
Prosenjit and Shannon, daughter and son-in-law, Sarbani and
Giuseppe and very precious grand-daughter Sovi.
He will always be remembered for his contagious smile and his big
warm laugh. আমরা আবার &দখা হেব - Amara abara dekha habe - We
will see you again.
