Chandra Persaud (Pamela/Pam), formerly Soogrim, aged 61, passed away on January 29, 2022 at the Humber River
Regional Hospital in Toronto. Pam was born on October 6, 1960 to the late Soogrim (Carlos) and Joyce Seebalack,
in Penal, Trinidad.
Words are not enough to describe the amazing woman, wife, mother and grandmother Pam was to her family.
She lived a life full of adventure, although not without its ups and downs. She migrated to Canada at the
age of 13 and lived with her Aunt Helen. From then, Pam worked to fulfill the obligations to her family diligently.
She met her husband of 40+ years at the age of 16. Even though their courtship was akin to William Shakespeare’s Romeo
and Juliet, Pam and her husband Steve defied the odds and were married. Their marriage produced 3 children,
Melodie, Wilk and Eric, 2 daughters in law, Shalini and Subrina, and 4 amazing grandchildren, Selena, Stephen,
Weslyn and Wesley.
Pam was a no-nonsense person, who loved her family fiercely and always puts them ahead of herself. She sacrificed a
lot to ensure her children had their mother at home to take care of them. She raised her family to be respectful members
of society and had no problem pointing out when she was displeased with any of them. Pam loved her husband more than
anything in the world. During their courtship, Pam lovingly and bravely gifted her husband a record by John Ford Coley,
with the song “I’d really Love to see you tonight”. These words fully express the dept of her love for Steve:
I won't ask for promises
So, you don't have to lie
We've both played that game before
Say "I love you", then say "Goodbye"
Pam is survived by her husband (Steve), children (Melodie, Wilk and Eric), daughters in law (Shalini and Subrina),
grandchildren (Selena, Stephen, Weslyn and Wesley), brothers (Baldath, Rampath, Bobby and Larry), nieces, nephews and
family too numerous to mention.
To say that her family and friends will miss her is an understatement. We have all been blessed to have her in our lives.
We loved you, we love you and we will always love you.
Romans (14:8)
For if we live, we live to Jehovah, and if we die, we die to Jehovah.
So both if we live and if we die, we belong to Jehovah.
