It was the first day at Ryerson in 1975 when I stepped outside for a walk in the "quad" to avoid lunch because no place inside felt comfortable for a new arrival. In those days a September day could be chilly. As I walked around the desolate quad, I spotted a lone figure sitting on a bench with his books. I would soon find what I needed on that cold windy day - a warm soul - humble, friendly and unassuming. It was Rudy. Rudy would soon be known for his intellectual abilities, and throughout our studies we all benefitted from his brilliance. And, our memory of him will last for his tireless effort, patience and humility in maintaining old friendships. My thoughts and heart are also with Rudy's family during this time. Lloyd and Cecille

Deepest condolences to the Pollard Family. Rudy always has been a gentle soul, he will rest in peace. Growing up in Kingston he and his family were always kind. In as much as we have not had the same closeness here in Canada, whenever I see him, he will remind me of the good days in Guyana.
