I is with a heavy heart and a very sad feeling that1 am standing before you to offer my condolences/sympathies to all the family members on the passing of the boss, "Doc" Samlall and dispenser/medic. Sydney Poorandeo Samlall (SPS)as tattooed or
inscribed on his left forearm.
He was my father in law, caring, loving, kind, and respected husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather of many faces that are in parts of the world and present in this crowd and on Zoom. He served the medical fraternity and the people of Guyana, whenever he was posted for over 45 years operating as famous "Doc" Samlall. He was a man of few words and a lot of action when it came to treating the sick and the ailing and had saved many lives. He was very popular on the Essequibo Coast, Pomeroon River and at one time he was mourned by all Essequibians 30 years ago from a prank that declared him dead when he was very much alive. He was 88 years old and lived a full life. On his own part, he was very contented and wanted a simple lifestyle. Life is a gift from God and is not measured by the years one lives but by what are put into those years. Let us all celebrate his life and reflect on the good of the man, and that would be elaborated in the eulogy.
My Father in Law passing has left a void in the lives of his family. and he will be sorely missed. One memory of him I have is when he would come over to the bank house in charity where I used to live and work and we played rap/cards for money. The winnings would be pooled and we would use the funds to buy duck to cook, eat, and pass the time. Myself and a friend pretended that we purchased Peking Duck but instead we stole his ducks and cooked them. He would say that the Peking Ducks were very sweet and tasty not knowing it was his own Muskovey(?) ducks he was eating until I admitted the misdemeanor and boyish prank after getting married to his beautiful daughter, Donna.
Boss, I want to show gratitude and thank you and my mother in law for the gift of life for bringing forth in this world the most wonderful woman I would ever meet and remain in
matrimonial bondage for 42 years so far and I would continue
to honor and cherish the gift of love.In other words, I can say that my chapter at home began at Charity, Pomeroon River, Essequibo where you used to live and his chapter ended in my home in Toronto, Canada where We shared our values and destiny.
I know how the family is devastated at this loss and I ask the Lord to bless your soul and forever keep it in eternal peace and tranquility. I salute you. You will surely be missed. I ask the Lord to bless the family and give them the will and strength to carry on in the same ways he would like to.
To my bereaved mother in law and the rest of the family, let go to what has gone. Be grateful for what remains and look forward for what is in the future and be proud of his legacy to live on. May his soul be blessed in the presence of the maker.
The cherished memories would never fade because you are gone.

With tears in my eyes and an unrepairable broken heart, I gather my thoughts to write this tribute to you.
Already, the pain of missing you is overwhelming, and the memories we shared will be in my heart forever. You were the most incredible dad and losing you has left a void that cannot be filled. Your memory will forever be a guiding light in my life.
You taught me the true meaning of unconditional love through your selfless actions and wise words. Your kindness and generosity knew no bounds, and you always put others before yourself. Your quiet strength and gentle nature made you so special and there are not enough words to express how much you mean to me.
The memories of you reading the news paper, [every single page,)us playing cards together, dominos, draughts which none of us could beat you at, and being a master at pools will always bring a smile to my face. Those moments were filled with laughter and joy, and they will be cherished forever.
Though you are no longer physically with us, Your love, compassion and legacy will endure through us and the lives you've touched.
As I carry on without you, you will always be in my heart, my mind, my thoughts, and my prayers. I find some comfort in knowing that you are watching over us as our guardian angel. Rest peacefully, Daddy, until we meet again in heaven.
I miss you more than words can express, and that feeling will remain in my heart forever. Your love will be my strength as I go through life without you by my side.

Too much time has passed since I last saw Pa. I’ll always fondly remember Pa quietly reading the newspaper and bringing us hot cross buns on Good Friday. I’ll never forget the impact he’s had on our lives. He stitched me up when I injured my head and treated me when I was very sick. He saved me and so many others. He was a true hero.
I know you’re with dad and uncle Mark now. Until we meet again.

back in the 1980’s when I served as pastor of Ebenezer Lutheran Church in NA, I was also the secretary of the NA/CANJE Christian Council. As Pastors we learnt from our church members that many of them were treated at the NA hospital but the dispensary did not have the medications that the doctors prescribed. So, we reached out to our overseas partners and they were able to get donations of basic medications from some major drug manufacturers mainly from Canada. So, we set up a medical clinic in the Lutheran compound free of cost. We reached out to the doctors who practiced in NA and nurses from the NA hospital to donate their time. The response was overwhelming. Doc Samlall donated his time and was there at the clinic more than any other doctor. He saw many patients and they were able to also get the medications they needed. We will forever be grateful to your dad for his selfless service! May his soul rest in peace!

Sharing our birthdays was my favorite way to celebrate. Here are some of my favorite memories, i’ll always think of you and all of these hugs and kisses ❤️ Thank you Pa for always showering me with so much love. You were always there for me: taking me to my bus stop, getting ice cream after school, going for walks, sitting on the porch, reading the Harry Potter books with me and then watching the movies together. Those were all such good times and I will always look back at those moments and hold them close to my heart. I love you Pa, thank you for everything that you have taught me.

" Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants" ( Psalm 116:15). It is with a profound sense of sadness that we learned of the passing of my uncle, Sydney. He is the last of 5 siblings that has completed his earthly sojourn and we are thankful for his memory, service and legacy. He is one of my mother's brothers. His wisdom and graciousness were a huge influence on all of us. Sydney's passing has left a chasm in our lives but we are deeply comforted by the reality that he is now free from the restrictions of his physical body and we shared great comfort from our Christian hope and know that he will be reunited again. Praise the Lord for his promotion to glory. All his physical struggles are now over and the best is yet to come.
We extend our deepest condolences to Sydney's family and pray that God will provide them with strength during this difficult time of grief. Dennis, Ruth Persaud & Family.
