Obituary of Hong Huan Hoa
Please share a memory of Hong to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Please kindly join us in honoring Mr. Hoa Huan Hong who passed away peacefully at home on Sunday March 24th 2024, at the age of 62 years old after a 9-year battle against Multiple System Atrophy, a degenerative brain disease. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Hoa Hue Tran and his three children, David, Laurie and Jason Hong.
Mr. Hong was born in Cho Lon, Vietnam to Không Bắc Hồng (father) and Sân Thị Lê (mother) with his 5 siblings. He started working at a young age in Vietnam, eventually owning his own business. Due to political changes after the Vietnam war, Mr. Hong was a part of the refugee movement called Thuyền nhân Việt Nam (Vietnamese Boat People) and travelled via boat to Singapore, Malaysia and eventually settling in Toronto where he would eventually meet his wife. Mr. Hong was employed as a metal polisher for over 20 years at H.A.T. Industries Limited, working his way up to lead supervisor. In his free time, he enjoyed reading Buddhism scriptures, playing carnival games at the CNE, claw machines and belting out Vietnamese ballads during his late-night karaoke sessions, all of which now have passed onto his children.
Should friends desire, donations will be distributed amongst the family and institutions who have been a vital part of our father’s battle against Multiple System Atrophy. You may also directly donate in his name to the institutions listed below:
