Saywack Singh, affectionately known as Goon, peacefully departed this world on Saturday, May 18th, at the age of 87, surrounded by his beloved family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Leila, and cherished by his children Martin (Maureen), Murphy (deceased)(Davie), Mickey (deceased) (Victorine), and June Ann (Hardat). Goon was a proud grandfather to Simone, Patricia, Vishal, Avinash, Richard, Randy, Ryan, Melanie and Natalie, and a beloved great-grandfather to Zachary, Zoey, Zayne, Diya, Vanessa, Tamesh and Haley.
Born to Indranie and Mosco in Fyrish Village, Guyana, Goon was a beloved brother to Gloria (Guyana), Ruby (deceased), Pearl (New York), Prince (deceased), Bharrat (deceased), Sham (deceased), and Shamdai (New York). He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law, grand sons-in-law & granddaughters in-law.
Goon had a multitude of interests, including cooking, gardening, and a deep fondness for Cricket. Before immigrating to Canada in 1994, he worked in the cane fields as a young man and then moved on to become a coordinator, a security officer at Albion Estates, and finally owned and ran a cake shop in Fyrish Village, Guyana, his hometown.
A diligent man known for his culinary skills, Goon cherished the moments spent with his family. As a father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, grandfather-in-law, brother, uncle, and friend, his absence will be deeply felt, but his memory will be cherished forever.
