When you teach for the length of time that I have, you literally get to know hundreds and hundreds of children. You watch them learn and grow and develop and for a year they're a part of your daily life. Like another parent, you end up caring for them deeply. I had the privilege of being Aaron's teacher for two years and I can honestly say that Aaron affected those around him in quite a unique way. Aaron was friends with everyone. He was hard working and funny, curious and caring. Every one of his classmates enjoyed working and playing with him. Everyone wanted to be his friend. I will remember Aaron's rambunctiousness and his infectious smile. I will remember him "flossing" in line at my desk. I will remember him smiling and getting a little nervous speaking in front of the class. I will remember his generosity. I will remember him returning to school for a brief period after months of treatment, eagerly answering questions and wanting to return to normalcy. He was a beautiful being and anyone who met him knew that. Aaron was the boy that inspired his classmates to fold 1000 paper cranes in only two weeks last June. He was the boy that was loved by everyone and I will miss him deeply. Jason Ruttan
