Obituary of Anita Gandhi
Please share a memory of Anita to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On January 1, 2020, Anita Gandhi was overcome by a sudden illness and passed
away. She and her family were on the last day of a beautiful vacation together,
which her husband, Jason Squire, and their two sons, Nikhil Gandhi Squire and
Samran Gandhi Squire, will treasure forever. Anita (to her family, “Anou” or
“Mom”) was ebullient, and brought enthusiasm and joy to everyone she met, and
everything she did. She applied her indomitable spirit and energy to teaching,
most recently at Pierre Laporte Middle School in Toronto; in her more than
eighteen years as a public school teacher, she positively affected the days and
lives of hundreds of students. She is already missed by her parents, Arvindkumar
and Nirmalaben Gandhi, her sister, Sonal Gandhi, her brother-in-law, Graham
Zoppi, her nieces, Maya and Meghan Gandhi, and her nephew, Cole Gandhi. We
appreciate the love and care of the many family members, friends and colleagues
who have supported us during this terrible time.
In memory of Anita’s gifts and passion as a teacher and a mom, in lieu of flowers
or donations, please buy a book and read it with a child.
