Three words. SUPER. NICE. GUY. That's the best way I could describe my friend of over 40 some years. I would like Seema and the rest of the family to know they are in my thoughts and prayers, and that many people from another Province also thought very highly of Roheet. Please accept my HEARTFELT CONDOLENCES! I would also like to share a couple of memories about Roheet, as well, because we were friends since elementary school, and we were always laughing when we got together.
I remember when Roheet first came to Champlain Heights School and not long after that, myself, Billy Gray, and Roheet were good friends, using the trails behind the houses to go from Billy's to Roheet's, and playing a lot of road hockey. Champlain Drive was way too busy, but in front of Roheet's place was great, except for one small problem.. a giant curving hill a couple of houses down from where we played. When we took a shot, and the ball missed the net, we had to run like crazy to catch it before it rolled down the hill or we'd have to walk what seemed like miles to get it, and then, turn around and walk back up the giant hill. It wasn't too bad in the beginning when we started to play, but when we got tired, nobody wanted to go all the way to the bottom, so Roheet would send his LITTLE BROTHER to go get it!! Alok was happy to do it because he was hanging out with his big brother and his friends, and we were glad because we were all too tired!! Classic big brother move. The last memory I'll share was from just before he moved to his new place. We hadn't seen each other for a long time so we had a lot of catching up to do. I went over to his place and one of the things we spoke about was the STUPID FIRE HYDRANT and all the tickets he got because they placed it halfway up his driveway. If he parked on the road he got a ticket, and if he parked in his driveway, he still got a ticket! It used to drive him crazy, so I told him I was going to try and get him a fire hydrant for his new place, so he wouldn't forget about all the wonderful tickets he got while he lived there, and we had a good laugh. He always had a great sense of humour and a smile.
We had recently been in contact on Messenger, and were planning to get together and catch up again when things were back to normal after Covid, but sadly, it didn't work out that way. Rest in peace, my friend, you will be missed.

Love & on going prayers for peace and serenity dear Seema, Reva, Shy, Uncle & Aunty, Didi and all family & friends.
It didn't take years for us to know & feel we were family, this friendship was effortless and the best!
We feel very fortunate to have met & known Seema & Rohit.
Rohit, a very warm, welcoming, incredibly kind & generous, crazy funny humor guy. His love for his family knew no bounds. He adored Seema and we lovingly knew she was his queen. His daughters, his ultimate pride & joy!
He loved one & all.
One of Rohit's many talents was poetry. He often communicated sweetest heartfelt messages over emails.
Here's something for him..
It's said real friends are hard to find
The ones that stay, through rough times
We were blessed to have met you,
A heart of gold, a brilliant mind
Loving, cheerful, thoughtful & caring,
your simple ways were quite simply, amazing!
Roheeters, God now has you safe in His keeping,
until we meet again, dear friend, your life we will be celebrating!
Cheers buddy!

Roheet and I went to junior high together in Saint John. I spent many weekend playing street hockey with him and other kids, we always had fun and I loved his kind heart and love of a great snack after we played outside. We were in Air Cadets together, and after that we went our separate ways for high school. Over the next few years we didn't have many times together as we had different interests in university , yet we still had fun when we were together. Geography and family were the difference in our 20's, Roheet got married and I moved to Ontario.
We lost contact for many years before social media etc. however when we did manage to talk, it was for hours and we always laughed.
I remember him making fun of the Montreal Canadiens player Guy Lafleur , knowing full well that he was my favourite player ,
Roheet insisted on calling him Guy Lafluke !!! That was my friend, making jokes about anything to get a conversation going.
Rest in Peace buddy. I'll never forget you. Thank you for your friendship.

Dear Seema, Shyla, Reva, Bandna, Alok, and Mr & Mrs Ummat
I am so sorry and saddened to hear of the passing of Roheet. Although I did not get to see Roheet as much as I would have liked, he will always hold a very special place in my heart. We first met when we were in grade 4 and we shared so many good times as we both grew up playing sports with Alok and the kids in the neighbourhood. We were always debating his New York Yankees and Philadelphia Flyers versus my Boston Red Sox's and New York Islanders. Roheet always made me laugh. A couple of memories I'd like to share where we laughed so hard. One time when we were walking across some ice in the gravel pits behind both our houses in Champlain Heights. Roheet was walking on a piece and I could see it starting to sink a bit. I mentioned it looked like it was going to break and he disagreed saying it was solid as he proceeded to stomp his foot at which point the ice broke and he proceeded to fall in. Although the water beneath was only a foot deep, he managed to get wet up to his knees and we both laugh all the way back to his house as his pants froze solid in the winter air. Another time was when Roheet and I went by train to visit Alok when he was going to McGill university. Unbeknown to me, Roheet's mother had made a batch of gulab's for Alok and we were to take them with us on the train. However while on the train, Roheet informed me that his mom had made them for us so we would have something to eat on our way there. Roheet laughed at me after we arrived in Montreal when Alok asked us where his gulab's were and he informed Alok that I had eaten just about all of them. I laughed at Roheet's prank but I felt sad for Alok; I guess I could not help it as Roheets mom was a great cook. As time went by we did not chat as often, but he was always keeping in touch with me via my wife's Facebook account, for which I was grateful. Roheet always asked how my mom was doing and when was she going to visit him in Ontario and bring some of her peanut butter cookies he so enjoyed. Sadly my mom can no longer travel or cook, but Roheet asking always brought back fond memories when we were young.
I will miss you Roheet.

The pain and sorrow I’m feeling are indescribable. There will never be another person I know who’s as selfless and generous as Roheet, and I will miss him dearly everyday for the rest of my life. Roheet truly had a heart of gold. He never got angry, swore, or raised his voice at anyone. He also worked so hard to take care of myself and our two daughters. He taught me life’s most important lessons, like loving, forgiveness, and living in the moment. He always made me feel important, and I will strive to be a better person for him for as long as I live. Rest in peace my best friend. I’ll love and miss you forever. Your loving wife, Seema.
