Obituary of Georg Anton Kralik
Please share a memory of Georg to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Georg Kralik, P.Eng., FEC, was born in Vienna, Austria on December 30, 1946 to Lydia and Anton Kralik.
His father, Anton, was an architect and professional engineer, a guiding light and inspiration for Georg to
study engineering.
As a young teenager, George emigrated from Austria with his family and moved to Toronto where he
became a student at Northern Secondary School. After high school graduation, Georg began his studies
at the University of Toronto in the Faculty of Applied Science, earning his Bachelor and Master’s degree
from the university. He worked as a professional engineer for 35 years at Ontario Hydro and later at
Ontario Power Generation. Georg was an advocate of nuclear power and arranged for a tour of the
Nuclear Power Plant in Pickering for his brother, Erich and his sister-in-law, Carolyn Sue that convinced
them of the effectiveness of the safety features at Pickering.
After his retirement from OPG, Georg continued his dedication to professional engineering. He served
on the executive of the West Toronto Chapter of the Professional Engineers of Ontario in various
capacities including in the role of Chair. In 2017, he was awarded the Order of Honour designation of the
Professional Engineers of Ontario, an honour of which he was extremely proud.
Georg was a dear brother to Erich and brother-in-law to Carolyn Sue and a devoted uncle to Christine,
Heidi and Stephen. He was a proud great uncle to Leah, Evan, Matthew, Ben and William.
Schlafe wohl, dear brother.
