I got to know Marcia in my time as a student and later lawyer at Don Valley. I met her at a party where I was largely out of place (being a student I was much younger then everyone and didn't know who to talk to), but I ended up spending the evening talking with Marcia. I didn't see her for a year after that, but when I was back the following year as a student she clearly remembered me and was a very warm mentor when I rapidly had to fill in for numerous odd jobs at East Toronto Community Legal Services. Finally, when I became a lawyer it took me a while to get a permanent job. Marcia showed great concern for me in the process and sent me jobs to apply for. Maybe these stories are overly specific. I didn't get to know her on the day to day basis that many of you have. But Marcia was clearly a deeply empathetic person who was able to leave her mark on me over the five years that we on and off worked together. I miss her very much.
